[ the adamantine tunnels are a fascination to lúthien, who longs for her home in beleriand — and while dwarven mines are not nearly the same thing, still she feels she must see what their kingdom looks like here, if the dwarves' handiwork is just as beautiful in this land as it is back home.
she very nearly makes it to the tunnels on her own; luck has her meeting joric on the way there, to accompany her to see what the tunnels hold.
it feels as if it has been hours that they have wandered, in the darkness of the tunnels, the pathways leading steadily deeper into the mountains; until lúthien stops short. ]
Do you hear that? [ she whispers.
tap. tap. tap.
there's a noise, to be sure... but what is making it is another matter. ]
[ Joric has never been too fond of being indoors - or anywhere with some sort of roof over his head. Inside was dark, smoky, and where sick people awaited death. Outside was sunlight and fresh, bracing air. But he goes inside the tunnels nevertheless because they must explore as much as they can to complete their mission.
Meeting up with Lúthien pleases him because it means he can focus on keeping her safe instead of how unsettling he finds this place. At her alerting him to a noise he stops and strains his ears to listen. If only he'd managed to find a fox or wolf before arriving here that he could have communicated with. Then they'd have another set of ears. As it stands, it's only his half-orc ears and he's shaking his head about to say no when the taps come again, loud enough for him to hear this time. ]
Wait. I do. Down that way?
[ It's whispered back to her as he points down one of the paths before them. It's worth investigating, but it may lead to trouble as well. ]
[ she nods, seeming both wary and intrigued at once... but as joric makes no move to try and stop her, she starts making her way down the path towards where it winds around a corner deeper into the mountains; her feet are quiet on the stone, barely leaving prints in the dust. ]
I cannot see what makes the noise, yet, [ she whispers as she looks back to joric... but at that moment, they can hear the tapping louder than before, tap-tap-tap, like sharp feet against the stone floor.
coming closer. ]

[The night sky had been dark for hours now, but Finn couldn't sleep. Jun announced that they would reach their destination tomorrow, and his mind hadn't been quiet since. There was plenty of excitement -- his first orb mission -- but apprehension too.
Finn finds himself scanning through old network posts to pass the time, refresh himself, and (hopefully) make him drowsy. It would nearly do the trick, if he hadn't stumbled across a particularly... embarrassing moment. Finn sucks his teeth. Truth be told, this one had been haunting him since it happened. Usually at night, right when he was trying to fall asleep.
Y'know. Like now.
Welp... they could all die tomorrow, couldn't they? Time to fix this. So he could get some sleep, if nothing else.]
OH, hey man. I was just thinking about the last time we talked, like, over the network. [He worries his lip for a few moments, gathering courage.] I just wanted to apologize for freaking out and bailing when you mentioned your brothers. And how they, y'know...
[Daisy shows up at Joric’s door late into the evening, admittedly already a bit tipsy. After finding out about Rosi going back home, it’s left her with a lot of mixed emotions. Mostly sorrow, and selfishly she doesn’t want to be alone. With a bottle of vodka in one hand, she knocks on his door with the other.
She’s back to her normal height now, and other than being banged up she’s doing a lot better than she had been when they all returned to the station.]
[ Though he's been opening up about as quickly as a man in his odd position could be, Joric isn't at a point where he heads to other peoples' quarters or they come to his, so he assumes there's some kind of problem on the station when the knock comes and he sets down the book he's reading open across the arm of his armchair before opening the door. The light level is a little dim for reading, but that's because he feels artificial light is too harsh. He much prefers candlelight or firelight.
Brow lifts at her presence and the bottle she carries. ]
[Daisy tries to smile, but the overwhelming feeling of sadness prevents it from reaching her eyes. She is relieved to see him though, having lost sight of him during the fight.]
I just wanted to check up, see if you were you okay.
[She catches him looking at the bottle and she lifts it,]
[That mission had taken an emotional toll on her, for more than one reason. And after taking a long shower, Daisy sits around in her room for a while before her thoughts start to consume her. There are times where it’s easier to bring herself back out of it than others, and she finds herself wanting to be in the company of someone else.
Getting out of bed, she makes her way down the hall to Joric’s door and knocks on it softly, just in case he was asleep. It was pretty late after all.]
[ It is late, but he hasn't drifted off just yet. Probably like others on the station tonight, he's remembering the looks on the faces of the Hivawei at the back of the line as the asteroid lit up the sky. They knew they wouldn't make it. He wonders if they found peace before the end; if they accepted it. He doubts they were all thinking the same thing when it hit, but hopefully some of them did. Jyn said the worst part was the noise, but that it was over quickly and didn't hurt. He'll keep reminding himself of that.
The knock on the door has him pulling himself up out of bed, shirtless but with a pair of pants on. He opens the door and smiles faintly when he sees who it is. ]
Hello. Come in.
[ He doubts she's coming to tell him about some emergency. The ear piece would be full of news if that were the case, so he's left to assume she wants to see him. ]
[Good to her invitation, before Natasha finds herself in the sunlight room. She's dressed for a workout, or something like that: yoga pants, trainers and a tank.
Hopefully she's not planning to drag him for a jog?]
[ He shows up in what is pretty much his uniform at this point: plain t-shirt, dark pants, and heavy boots. He heads over once he spots her, giving a brief smile and not really taking note of her clothes being meant for a certain activity. ]
[While she's prepared for moving, it's also just comfortable, especially around the station. Less of a suit of armor than her boots/jacket combination on worlds.]
Hello yourself.
[She nods toward the path, inviting him to join her as she starts to walk.]
