[ They are totally capable of it, like if they're having a meal or something. But then... yeah, the hands start roaming. ]

Not beyond reading this mission file.

[ He's already spent the equivalent of days within the sunlight room, but a man has to shower and sleep sometime. ]

[Daisy isn't surprised to hear him say that, and she arrives at his door a few minutes later. Knocking once she waits for him to answer.]

Hey. Figured we could go over it together.

[And spend what little time they have left together.]

All right. Have a seat.

[ He heads back over to the bed and takes a seat, bringing up the mission file again to display before his eyes. ]

At least I know how to survive out in the wilds. I don't mind being sent out there.

[Daisy takes a seat next to him, scooting back until her back is against the wall.]

I'd say I'm surprised to see they throw anyone with powers there, but they've done worse to powered people where I'm from.

[Of course it's the first thing she noticed when she started to read it. Frowning in concern, she looks over to him.]

Have you dealt with sandstorms before?

[ He doesn't really know what to say to that at first. On the one hand, his people value magic because it's used for healing and protection, but on the other, what experimental magic has done to him has soured things. Of course he doesn't have a bias against her or anyone here with magic, powers, or whatever they call it, but after what he's experienced he often has an internal flinch at the thought of magic. If these people are banished, is it because magic hurt people in the past? ]

Hm? Oh, only once. Far to the southwest of my land lies a desert, but I didn't venture far into it. I didn't like the looks of it, and once I experienced that sandstorm I had no desire to return.

[Daisy notices the way he doesn't even acknowledge her anger about what they do to powered people there, and while she understands his hesitation when it comes to anything power or magic related she can't lie and say it doesn't hurt a little.

Still, she does her best to ignore that feeling.]

Sounds like it's a pretty common occurrence here. You might want to prepare for it.

[She's not sure how he could.]

Bring as much water with you as you can.

[ His mind was lost in it for a moment, the way only those who've been hurt can be. And then he came back to himself, hearing her question and everything before that was set aside so he could answer her. To not acknowledge it wasn't his intent, but he needs time and the right words, and the latter has never come easily. But then again, it's not easy to feel as though he's broken either. ]

I'm guessing we'll set off with big packs and hopefully tents. A properly staked one can hold back a lot of wind, but even they're not perfect.

[ He closes the mission file and scoots back against the wall too, drawing up a leg as the other hangs over. ]

It's good you'll have protection from that in the city. But these sound like a desperate people, and that could make them dangerous. You will be careful?

[ He leans down a little, giving her a Look. ]

And not just say you will be while running head first into danger?

[Daisy brings her hand up to gnaw on her nails while she thinks over what he's saying. He clearly knows how to handle himself, but she worries regardless. She only realizes he's talking to her when he leans down to look at her.]

When do I ever do that?

[She asks with a dry smile.]

I can provide examples.

[ Not that he wants to get into her close calls at the moment. Instead he takes her hand and smooths fingers over her gnawed at nails. ]

It's hard to believe this is the last one. Last mission, I mean. Not orbs, since there are two. It's come about so fast.

I'd rather you didn't.

[Daisy admits, her smile turning sad when he takes hold of her hand.]

I know. I wish we could be together during it.

So do I.

[ He continues stroking her hand, feeling a suddenly desire to commit this moment to memory. Perhaps a memory so vivid and clear that it can't be lost when he leaves this place.

But what of all the other memories he cherishes here? Jyn bringing him breakfast, saving Yzak from embarrassment by flipping a table in a restaurant, fishing with Finn, relaxing by a mountain lake with Andy, getting tattoos with Newt, Natasha encouraging him to pick up woodcarving again, and so much more. What about the dozens of memories with the woman sitting next to him? There is so much he wants to say, wants to know, but it all gets stuck in his throat. And yet he still tries. ]

Daisy...

[ He doesn't get very far. ]

[Daisy sits in silence as well, watching his hand stroke hers. Her throat tight with emotion at everything left unsaid. At least until he says her name and it's like a dam breaks, tears welling up and spilling over instantaneously.

Talking about her feelings has never been her strong suit, and instead of saying anything she leans forward to kiss him.]

[ How many times has she kissed him while in tears? The number is probably too high to recall, but it highlights the way she expresses herself with him and he knows he's the same. They can't speak their feelings aloud; they just have to show each other.

An arm slides around her waist as his lips meet hers. He can't just say he doesn't want to lose her. He has to show her he doesn't want to with the way his kiss intensifies, the moan that escapes his throat, and the desperate press of fingers to her body, like he could leave a permanent imprint to take back with her. ]

[What was that about them being unable to keep their hands off each other?

Hand reaching up to rest against the nape of his neck, Daisy pulls him closer to her as she matches his intensity. She can't handle the idea of losing him, even when it's a reality. Pulling away to catch her breath, Daisy presses her forehead against his.]

I know.

[That he's going to miss her, just as much as she'll miss him.]

[ Eyes close and he takes a moment to just breathe in and out. This has always been their way. Whenever they've tried to talk they've needed several attempts to get to what they really meant to say. The way they've connected over this past year has led them to this point where they can nearly read each other's mind. ]

Good. You can't- can't go without knowing it.

[Daisy cups the side of his face, moving her head back just enough to be able to look at him. Thumb stroking his cheek, Daisy admits…]

You mean so much to me.

[ He sweeps his thumb against her waist, lifting his other hand to her cheek. ]

So do you.

[ His thoughts turn to her first over anyone else. There is no one left to wait for him at home. ]

It will be difficult to let go when the day of parting comes.

[ His brow furrows, recalling her words regarding her regret. ]

But you will have your mother again. You will be going back to happiness.

[ And so he'll be able to release her from his embrace when the time comes. ]

[Tears well up in her eyes again at the mention of her mother. She's never forgotten why she agreed to be here, but she's grown to care about people here. Especially him.]

But I won't have you.

[ His returning smile is sad. ]

No.

[ He presses a kiss to her forehead. ]

And I won't have you.

[Lower lip trembling when he kisses her forehead, Daisy swallows the knot forming in her throat.]

I don’t want to lose you.

I know.

[ Echoing her earlier words. ]

I don't want that either.

I thought we’d at least be together for the last mission.

[That hurt her the most, even more than the powered people being isolated.]
